Dog/Family Matching
This is a free service provided by OTBDT to help families choose the right dog. There are many people who rush out and get a dog based on looks or other superficial reasons alone. This often results in a mismatch. When getting a new dog a person or family needs to take many things into consideration: The family's activity level, the number and ages of children in the family, each member's availability to work with and bond with the dog, specific breed characteristics, the original purpose for that breed (hunting, herding, protection, etc), the specific dog's age, background, and temperament.
We will meet with you and your family and discuss all of these topics. Then, we can help you research the different breeds you are interested in, and we will even go with you to pick out the specific dog if you would like.
Baby Preparation
This service is designed to help expecting families prepare themselves and their dog for the new arrival. We'll discuss ways that you can help your dog become more comfortable with the new addition to your family. With our help you will be able to avoid any jealousy or misbehavior from your dog in reaction to your new born. We do recommend that expecting families schedule a meeting with us no later than 3 to 4 months prior to the delivery.
